About
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a real city of nearly 400,000 people, not a resort, with Las Canteras, a long urban beach protected by a natural reef, right in the middle. Temperatures stay pleasant all year, the nomad community is large and well organised, and the rest of the island offers hiking, dunes and surfing. Being in the Canaries also means an hour behind mainland Spain, longer flights to Europe, and occasional calima, when dust from the Sahara clouds the sky.
