The city is less effortless without a scooter: rail stations sit awkwardly, buses are improving but slow, and summer heat limits walking. English is limited and coworking supply is modest. West Central District is the historic and culinary core, best for walking to temples and cafes but busy on weekends. The newer Yongkang and Shanhua areas suit people tied to science-park work but are not ideal for a first cultural stay. Choose carefully between station access and old-centre atmosphere.
