Non-Lucrative Residence Visa
One year of residence, renewable, for people who can live on savings or passive income of EUR 28,800 a year without working.
Visado de residencia no lucrativa
The non-lucrative visa is Spain's route for retirees and others who can support themselves without working. You show 400% of the IPREM, EUR 28,800 a year in 2026, plus EUR 7,200 for each family member, through savings or passive income. The first permit lasts one year and renews for two-year periods, leading to long-term residence after five years. It does not allow any work, and Spanish consulates have repeatedly said this includes remote work for foreign employers, so remote workers should use the digital nomad visa instead.
