Long-Term Resident Visa - Work-from-Thailand Professional
Ten-year residence for high earners employed by substantial foreign companies.
Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa, Work-from-Thailand Professional category
The LTR is the premium option: ten years of residence, a digital work permit, fast-track immigration at airports, annual rather than 90-day reporting, and no re-entry permit requirement. The Work-from-Thailand Professional category targets senior remote employees, and the bar is set by your employer as much as by you: the company must be publicly listed or demonstrate substantial revenue. It is a much stronger position than the DTV, but far fewer people qualify.

Tax and health
Tax
Work-from-Thailand Professionals get an exemption on foreign-sourced income remitted to Thailand, which materially changes the calculus versus the DTV. Confirm the current terms, as the incentive has been adjusted before.
Insurance
Required — minimum 50,000 USD of cover. Or a USD 100,000 deposit held for at least twelve months, or Thai social security coverage.
Healthcare
USD 50,000 minimum coverage valid in Thailand, or the deposit alternative.
Immigration and tax rules change without notice and depend on your nationality and circumstances. Confirm with the official source below or a qualified adviser before acting on anything here.
Good to know
- Up to four dependants can be included, and they get the same ten-year validity
- Annual reporting replaces the 90-day report, which alone is worth a lot of administrative time
- If your employer will not release financial statements, the application stalls; check internally before starting
- The employer revenue test excludes most people who could otherwise afford this visa
- Losing the qualifying job puts the visa at risk
